Founded in 1956, BYB is an all-volunteer organization offering a quality baseball program for the children of Batavia and Mooseheart. Our programs serve over 1,200 players age 6 to 17 with over 90 teams. With no financial support from any local government, BYB raises funds through local sponsors, donations, and player fund raising. BYB is in constant need of adult volunteers to coach, prep fields, sell concessions, umpire games, etc. We encourage and need your assistance. BYB holds monthly board meetings (open to the public) on the second Tuesday of each month at the Batavia Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson, 7:30 PM during the off-season, 8:30 PM during the season May through July.
Adopt A Bag Drive
The United Way is preparing for their annual Adopt A Bag drive and would love the help of those BYB families that prefer not to donate gift cards. Both are important! Believe it or not, many wish lists include a request for laundry detergent and Toilet Paper. These adopting families are told that these non-perishable items will be taken care of by this drive and they can concentrate on other purchases for their assigned families.
The adopt a bag is one brown grocery bag of the following items (brand does not matter):
1 medium laundry detergent
1 – 4 pack of toilet paper
1 box of Kleenex
1 – 4 pack of bars of soap
1 full size bottle of shampoo
This should all fit in one brown bag. We ask for brown bags as these stand up better – items can flop out of plastic bags.
Drop off can start November 24 and go thru December 13th.
For those on the West side drop-off will be at 1004 Maple, and for those on the East side drop-off will be at 1555 Benson Court.
Also, don't forget that the giftcard drive is still on-going. Please contact Joe Novotny (firstname.lastname@example.org / 630-399-5742) for info on drop-off. Travel kids, please coordinate with your coaches.
Join us at The Dawg Pound for a fun 2 day Thanksgiving break camp. Hitting, Fielding and Throwing skills will be covered along with some wiffle ball at the end of each day. 10 player max for each session and masks are mandatory to attend.
As you know, it is a year like no other. Batavia United Way established a Covid 19 Relief Fund this year for the community to pool funds to help our neighbors in need.
The United Way has processed a long list of rent assistance applications, utility assistance and have increased support for the non-profits they fund. So, it comes as no surprise that the number of families in need of help providing Christmas to their families is on the rise as well. In addition, there is a large number of teenagers and as we all know, all they want is hoodies and gift cards!
Which brings us to our annual BYB gift card drive....Gas cards, Grocery, Portillo’s Chick Fil A, Raising Cane, Chipotle, Taco Bell, McDonald’s, WalMart, Target, Game Stop, Dick’s, Nike Outlet, Best Buy………all are good choices! Any gift cards you can provide will be matched with a kiddo that needs it…. guaranteed.
Last year Batavia United Way adopted 127 families including 296 BPS students. They are on track to do the same if not more. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
If you are able to donate, please contact Joe Novotny (email@example.com / 630-399-5742) to coordinate drop-off. Any travel kids/parents, please coordinate with your coaches.

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we inform you of Jason's passing on February 17th.
To quote one of our board members and anyone who got to know Jason - "Jason was a great guy and great father. He was always a selfless man always helping kids' sports and activities." He will be greatly missed by all.
Please support the Prescott family if you can during this challenging time.
