Welcome to the 2014 season of Batavia Youth Baseball
Now in our 58th year, BYB is an all-volunteer organization offering a quality baseball program for the children of Batavia and Mooseheart. Our programs serve over 1,200 players age 6 to 17 with over 90 teams. With no financial support from any local government, BYB raises funds through local sponsors, donations, and player fund raising. BYB is in constant need of adult volunteers to coach, prep fields, sell concessions, umpire games, etc. We encourage and need your assistance. BYB holds monthly board meetings (open to the public) on the second Tuesday of each month at the Batavia Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson, 7:30 PM during the off-season, 8:30 PM during the season May through July.
Spring Break Camp
BYB will hold the third in a series of off-season training camps at the Dawg Pound, located at 900 Paramount Pkwy, during Spring Break. This is a great opportunity to improve your player’s skills and stay sharp during the off-season. BYB will partner with Joe Piekarz, who will serve as the Camp Director. Joe is a former professional baseball player who played in the Oakland A’s organization and pitched for the Kane County Cougars. In 2006, Joe was named the co-pitcher of the year for the Cougars and held the lowest ERA in the A’s organization. Joe has worked for Velocity Sports Training in St. Charles and has worked with and coached players of all age levels on various individual baseball skills. Joe has a great style in working with players of all ages.
The sessions will be held beginning Monday, March 31 through Wednesday, April 2. We will hold two sessions (with NEW EVENING times) as follows:
Each session is limited to 16 players. Each age group will meet for one hour per day for three days and will be taught the finer points of hitting, fielding and throwing.
What to bring – DRY pair gym shoes, glove and bat, if you have one.
We are pleased to offer the 3 day camp at a rate of $45.
Please join us in 2014 for a season that is shaping up to be one of the best years of Batavia Youth Baseball in years!
And be sure to register in time for the coach clinics and spring training camps to get a jump on your season.
Batavia Youth Baseball is looking for Volunteers to help out at upcoming events in 2014. If you're not a coach or a team parent, but would like to volunteer some time in other ways, please give us your contact information. As events are added to the calendar throughout the year, you will be able to sign-up as a BYB volunteer.
