Brett Hontz - BYB Trainer
Hello everyone! My name is coach Hontz. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Yes, I am still an Eagles and Phillies fan (as are my children). I played baseball throughout my youth and was blessed to be part of the All-American Baseball Academy for 3 years in high school where I was able to train with high level players and coaches through the eastern half of Pennsylvania.
After high school, I earned a scholarship to continue my playing career at Carson Newman College in Tennessee. I finished my college career with 19 wins and 4 loses. In 2008, my senior season, I led the Eagles pitching staff with a record of 11-1 with an ERA of 1.91. I pitched 99.1 innings that season with 99 strikeouts and only 13 walks. At the end of that season, I earned several awards including 1st Team All-American honors.
I met my wife, Rachel, in Tennessee. She was raised in Sycamore and I wisely followed her to Illinois. We settled in Batavia in 2013. We have 4 boys - Tristan (6th grade at Rotolo), Gavin (4th grade at Grace McWayne), Caden (1st grade at Grace McWayne), and Everett (4 years old).
It has been a great joy over the last 3 years to use my skills and experience to train and develop the next generations of pitchers!
